Each webpage contains a pair of loosely related photos, which in itself is a clue to the organisation of the book. In any page-spread the two images may reflect each other, support each other, or challenge each other, in geometry, in tonal values, or in the relationship between the subjects. The connection between the two may not always be obvious, but it is either thematic or visual.
The double exposure and the naturalistic view of the pond don't have to be viewed together, even though the one may help explain the other. The pond in Stackpole was shot entirely on account of the formal geometry and the relationships between the reeds, the ice-filled water, and the sky under the low January sun in the west. The double exposure was an accident.
